WATT DOMAIN SHORT WAVE GAKI |

| 40 Watt Domain’s first album, Short Wave appeals to me from the cover. As a twenty-one year old male, surfing, cars, and pot leafs appeal to me. And when you look at the interior there are exposed boobies! These boys might be trying to please their audience, they might be trying to please themselves, either way subtlety is not their forte. | ||
| 40 Watt
Domain defines their sound as “Sonic Surf Smoke Punk.” It’s
primarily a pop-punk sound, but they know how to go heavy, they know how
to groove, and they know how to be sweet. There are few similarities between
their songs, but most of them are catchy and fun. In the song, “Salty
Dog,” the group shows their hip-hop influence, and that is just plain
painful. 40 Watt Domain is a group of talented musicians, and Doug Boehm did well by them in the production booth. They know how to write a song, and how to make an album. The standout songs on this album are “Potato” and “Bubble.” Short Wave is a fun album that will catch your attention while the music’s playing, but don’t expect any of the songs to stick in your head after the music stops. |
