HARLEY’S
WAR (HARDCORE ALL-STARS) CRO-MAG LOUD FAST RECORDINGS |
LINKS: |
| Haven’t
heard some really excellent NYHC in a while? Well, leave it to one of the
originators of the scene to bring it back to ya. Harley Flanagan (yeah,
of Cro-Mags fame) has put together a disc with some of the best of the best—hence the name Hardcore All-Stars. |
||
| He
brings in Crazy Jay Skin (Vento from Warzone), Rocky George (Suicidal Tendencies),
Ryan Krieger, Vinnie Stigma (Agnostic Front), and Mickey Fitz to shred and
bash in the true NY style I live for. Tunes such as “Fuck the Middle
East (Last Days)”, and “Spirit of ‘77” hit straight
between the eyes with frenzy, fury, and heart—and it’s definite
that the heart of these guys doesn’t pump piss. There’s also
bonus tracks recorded from ’82-’83: “Don’t Tread
On Me”, “Do Unto Others”, “Dead End Kids”,
an “Why Don’t U”, and something you would be hard-pressed
to find anywhere else—tracks from Harley’s first band, The Stimulators,
where he played drums. Recorded in ’81 with Nick Marden (currently
a member of Suicide King) on bass, this is the only place you’ll find
a live version of “M.A.C.H.I.N.E.”. Harley’s War is a rotating all-star band. In the last year I’ve seen Darryl Jenifer (Bad Brains), Sean Kilkenny (All Boro Kings, Dog Eat Dog), and “Goat” (Misfits, Murphy’s Law, Skarhead) on stage with Harley. Word has it that Bobby Hambel (Biohazard) will be joining them for the upcoming NJ Metalfest in November. No matter who’s on the stahe with him, this is one you don’t want to miss—and a disc no serious aficionado of NYHC should be without. |
