Finally, somebody's doing pop music right these days. This is Malin's first solo effort since the ending of glam punkers D Generation. While he says it wasn't a huge jump between the two for him, there definitely is a huge difference in sound.

The Fine Art of Self Destruction amounts to a collection of dark but beautiful pop tunes which run the gamut from the jangly “Queen of the Underworld” to the meandering “Solitaire” to the upbeat “Almost Grown”. As I'm writing this, I'm on a long bus ride on an overcast day and I couldn't think of a better soundtrack.

(editor's note--this is more on the alt/country end of the spectrum...produced by Ryan Adams, it's a definite venue change for Jesse...but since we go back a loooong ways...even if the guy is doing thrash polka I'll post reviews of his stuff...it's not my preferred style, but it's an intriguing mix and hugely popular...)
