Metal bands have been doing it for years, and there’s been a few all-star hardcore line-ups in the past (Harley’s War anyone?), now we have the newest version. With Ian “Bulldog” Edwards on bass (Earth Crisis), Mitts on guitar (Skarhead), Jorge Rosado on vocals ((Merauder), and Rigg Ross on drums (Hatebreed) the new group Rag Men comes barreling at you full force. There are no apologies. There is no half-stepping.

.

This is NYHC, motherfucker, and the shit is serious. You know Rag Men were the infantry men that were sent back in to fight over and over again until they were total cripples or dead. Guess the band is trying to make a point here, huh? Seems they are survivors of the scene and they’re going back in for another round, another battle. Tracks like “Possession” hold a double-edged essence. Is he a pissed off –ex out for retribution or is he singing a love song? Hhhmmmm…guess that depends on how twisted your mind is (and mine’s pretty twisted, for sure). And then there’s “My World”, an ode to those young poseurs who try to claim hardcore pedigree and cred. Each of the 8 songs here are blissfully and brutally well-crafted, and as always, Jorge does a bang-up job of getting down and dirty. Truthfully, this band has heart, and should be in your cd changer right behind anything by Hatebreed.
