After nearly 20 years in the metal industry, Rob Zombie has compiled a greatest hits album – Past, Present & Future. Zombie, always the media maven, made his greatest hits a two disc set – one a CD of 19 songs and the other a DVD of 10 music videos.
The discs are as promised – a collection of Zombie’s work from the past, the present and the ‘future’ (new, unreleased tracks and videos).

From White Zombie’s hits “Thunder Kiss ‘65” and “More Human Than Human” to Zombie’s first solo successes “Dragula” and “Living Dead Girl”, the past segment is appropriately covered. As the turn of the century has found Zombie working on soundtracks and other projects, the present is represented with his version of the Ramones’ “Blitzkrieg Bop” and “Pussy Liquor”, a song from the soundtrack to his movie House Of 1000 Corpses. Insofar as the future goes, Zombie recorded a pair of new songs for this collection – a clap-along ode to hitting the highways down south called “Two Lane Blacktop” and the thick-beated industrial club tune “Girl on Fire”.

On the DVD, Zombie threw in three previously unreleased videos for songs off Hellbilly Deluxe: “Demonoid Phenominon”, “Return Of The Phantom Stranger” and “Spookshow Baby”. They serve to enhance Zombie’s artistic vision as they fit well with the other six videos he directed. The lone vid that Zombie did not front was “Thunder Kiss ‘65”, and it is easy to see that it is set apart from the others.

Rob Zombie has always stood out on the metal landscape and Past, Present & Future shows why: he is an artist in the truest meaning of the word.
