Compilations. You either love them or you hate them. There’s no in-between. Luckily, when it comes to hardcore, most of the compilations aren’t as bad as their metal cousins have become over the years. This one comes from Boston’s Stab and Kill Records, and it showcases a good amount of New England hardcore bands doing quite a few different flavors of the genre.
. My personal favorites are the more Oi-types like The Smut Peddlers’ “Riot At The Pier” and Tommy and the Terrors’ “Can’t Remember”. There’s heavier stuff here that appeals to that evil twin within me as well, such as “Outstaying Your Welcome” by Bottom Line, “Loose Lips Sink Ships” by Some Kind Of Hate, “Negative Space” by The A-Team, and “Straight Jacket Mosh” by Mental. Most of these are unreleased tracks, which makes it that much better—nothing worse than getting a comp where everything’s already been released somewhere else so it feels like a copy of those cheesy That’s What I Call Music comps. The release comes as a double 7” or in cd format, so you can have it any way you like it. The groups included are: Think I Care, R’N’R, Close Call, Bottom Line NYC, As They Fall, Some Kind Of Hate, Say Goodbye, The Prowl, The Smut Peddlers, Tommy and the Terrors, Fit For Abuse, The A-Team, Glory Fades, Knife Fight, and Mental.
